GRANTS AND AWARDS

Each year the Town Council award grants to many projects to assist local groups in the area. Any group which holds a constitution and serves the residents of Stocksbridge, Deepcar and Bolsterstone is eligible to apply for a grant.


In 2005 the Town Council launched a Citizens Award Scheme whereby local residents are nominated for their services to the community. Details of recent winners are posted on this site. If you wish to nominate a person/group or see winners from previous years please contact the office.


AWARDS

The Annual Citizens Awards for 2019 were awarded to 4 worthy winners:-

Jackie Higginbottom​ as recognition for over 44 years of dedicated service as a School Crossing Patrol serving both Royd N&I and Deepcar St John's Schools


Richard Hayes as recognition of his fundraising efforts for the Childrens Hospital



Tom Todner as recognition for his work with the In Bloom Group in particular the planting of the 'Snowdrop Walk' created between Hole House Lane and Edward Street


HOPE Cafe members as recognition for the setting up of the Hope Cafe based in St John's Church for carers to go with their patients for fellowship

GRANTS

Any groups wishing to apply for a grant will need to make reference to the Town Council's grants policy and complete a grant application form. Both documents can be downloaded via the links below or a copy obtained from the office.


The Town Council also have an arrangement with Sheffield Community Transport to provide a minibus and driver to groups for outings. ​ Groups can apply to the Town Council for a transport grant of up to £300.00 per annum. Once again details of the group, a copy of its constitution and a set of accounts is reqwauired by the Town Council.


The Town Council are also part of the Sheffield Lakeland Landscape Partnership Community Grant Scheme. More details about this funding source can be found here

A grant of £500 was awarded to Morehall Fly Fishing Club for funding assistance towards their landscape project.


A grant of £1000 was awarded to Bolsterstone Village Hall Trust for funding towards refurbishment of the village hall flooring.


A transport grant of £300 was awarded to Stocksbridge Christian Centre Lunch Club for funding towards transport to enable members to attend the Lunch Club on a weekly basis.


A grant of £1000 was awarded to Stocksbridge Cricket Club for funding towards their forthcoming Family Fun Day.



A transport grant of £300 was awarded to Stocksbridge Community Care Group (Friday Drop In) to enable vulnerable people to access the social and learning skills offered on a weekly basis to combat loneliness.

A grant of £1110 was awarded to Greave House Farm Trust to provide a 3 day First Aid at Work course for up to 12 participants to include members of the Trust plus Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre and Garden Partners.


A grant of £1000 was awarded to Valley Recreational Activity Community Project towards planned entertainment/interactive sessions in the form of outings/events for their members during 2019.



A donation of £100 was awarded to Valley Music Festival towards an advertisement in the programme for the Valley Music Festival event in June.

A grant of £500 was awarded to Stocksbridge & District W.I. for funding towards the replacement of batteries/pads for 3 defibrillators.



A grant of £620 was awarded to the Sheffield Live at Home scheme relating to an application for funding for the Stocksbridge Christ Church Lunch Club to provide entertainment and interactive sessions at the Lunch Club.



A grant of £1000 was awarded to Stocksbridge Rugby Club for funding towards replacement flooring in the changing rooms.



A grant of £1500 was awarded to STEP Development Trust towards the refurbishment of the stage in the main hall.


A grant of £2000 was awarded to Steel Valley Project for funding assistance towards the Cedar Road Project.

A grant of £1,105 was awarded to Stocksbridge Community Care Group towards office space within the Town Hall for a further 12 month period.

A grant of £100 was awarded to Renewable Energy towards costs for an information day.



A grant of £1000 was awarded to Stocksbridge & District Pentaqua Swimming Club towards the 23rd Annual Spring Sprints Open Gala.



A grant of £500 was awarded to Stocksbridge Photographic Society towards the purchase of new flash equipment for the group.


A grant of £1000 was awarded to Deepcar Village Community Association towards this year's Annual Community Bonfire and Firework Display.


A grant of £1000 was awarded to Stocksbridge Gymnastics Club for assistance towards equipment.


A transport grant of £300 was awarded to Stocksbridge Christian Centre to enable people with mobility issues to attend the Centre's Lunch Club.


A grant of £531 was awarded to the Royal British Legion for the purchase of a new Branch Standard, the current one being out of date.


A grant of £1000 was awarded to Stocksbridge Cricket Club for assistance towards a Family Fun Day to raise funds for the Club.


A grant of £725 was awarded to Valley Recreational Activity Community Project towards the staging of a Christmas Pantomime.
