The Town Council has received notification from Barnsley
Metropolitan Borough Council of proposals to erect a

write raising their objections due to the siting of the wind
farm in a greenbelt area; the height of the turbines was
considered to be much too large and loss of amenity for the
residents of Stocksbridge.
Cllr. D L Lyons stated that in an ideal world the wind turbines
would not be as large, however, being large made them more
efficient. He noted that there was an urgency to develop

caveats of needs to be met during access and construction.

Farm. These gates had been put in place to prevent
motorbikes becoming a problem. However, some disabled
people had experienced problems when operating the gates,
therefore, the City Council removed them. However, they
have noted that if a problem starts to arise with motorbikes
they can easily be re-erected. The Town Council have
queried why gates were erected in the first instance.
Winter Maintenance - January 2008
The Town Council had queried with Street Force whether the
iceberg station situated in the valley bottom was used to decide
when it was necessary to start gritting etc., when it could be
several degrees colder higher up the hillside. Street
Force had advised that remote monitoring stations provide unique
data for each site across the city, which is not averaged in any
way. The site at Stocksbridge is just one part of the
network which provide data to make informed decisions on the
treatment required in the city, with some stations being on high
exposed sites and some in lower urbanised areas in order to
provide an overview of varying situations across the highway
network. There are currently no plans to review the siting
of any stations. The Town Council have requested that
representatives from Street Force be invited to a future meeting
in order to discuss winter maintenance procedures.
