Stocksbridge, a small town located about 10 miles north of Sheffield, lies on the edge of the Pennines and the Peak District National Park. It is home to Liberty Steels, a prominent British manufacturer specializing in aerospace steel products.
Starting in 2027, the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority will begin to take back control of routes, fares and timetables across South Yorkshire, and will decide when and where buses run.
Over the past several months, Stocksbridge Town Council have been running a petition for the local area – Stocksbridge, Deepcar and Bolsterstone – to be treated as a priority for bus franchising routes.
The Mayor of South Yorkshire, Oliver Coppard, will be attending the Town Council meeting on 11th December at 6.30pm to discuss the bus franchising. This meeting is open to the public.
